Class Descriptions

  • BEGINNER FOIL I (ages 6 - 12)
  • BEGINNER FOIL II (ages 13 & above)
  • Open to beginner & intermedaite fencers, students will learn the basics of the foil fencing, with an emphasis on coordination, positioning and movement. The group setting allows for interactive games between similarly skilled beginner fencers. New fencers are instructed on the rules of play and basic skill sets needed to begin fencing on the first day.
  • COMPETITIVE FOIL
  • The Competitive Foil group is for USA Fencing members looking to improve their competition results. A specific fencing skill or idea will be presented in the first portion of class, and students will be led through exercises, drills and fencing games designed to enhance their understanding of the presented tactic. Students must be current members of USA Fencing and have their own fencing gear and uniform.
  • ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOIL
  • A continuing enrollment group accepting beginner and intermediate youth fencers, ages 6-10. The class exposes students to all aspects of the Olympic sport of foil fencing. Conditioning, flexibility, skill building and structured play are the core elements to a fun and challenging class.
  • MIDDLE SCHOOL FOIL
  • A continuing enrollment group accepting beginner and intermediate recreational fencers, ages 11—14. Fencers will practice and compete against area middle school students. Course objectives include conditioning and flexibility, sport-specific footwork and blade techniques, and introduction to competitive foil fencing.
  • YOUTH FENCING
  • Youth Fencing is designed for new fencers ages 4 - 6 years old. Plastic foils & foam sabres provide a safe introduction to the sport of fencing without the requirements of bulky protective gear. Fencing tactics will be presented in a fun, safe, and non-competitive atmosphere.
  • INDIVIDUAL LESSONS
  • Individual fencing lessons are necessary for all age and skill levels, including beginner and elite fencers. One-on-one instruction is instrumental in the development of a student-athlete's game plan, and a challenging curriculum will keep students motivated. Lessons can be scheduled by appointment with any member of our coaching staff.
